If you...
Have tried therapy before, but nothing really stuck
You suspect your current problems stem from your past experiences
Want to address the cause, not just manage the symptoms
I’m Peta — a therapist, straight-shooter, and long-time student of what it really takes to grow, heal, and change.
I’ve been walking the talk of personal development for nearly 40 years (yep, four decades of doing the work). Along the way, I picked up a Bachelor of Health Science (Hons) in Psychology, a Diploma in Counselling, and a whole lot of lived experience that no textbook could ever teach.
I work with adults and couples who are tired of just “coping” and want to get to the root of things — the patterns, pain, and past experiences that still show up in life and relationships. Whether we’re meeting online or face-to-face, my style is warm, practical, and refreshingly real. No therapy jargon. No fluff. Just genuine support, grounded strategies, and the occasional well-timed reality check.
I integrate a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based practices, Schema Therapy, and Humanistic therapies. I also draw on elements from other therapeutic approaches to suit each client’s needs.
I opened Bloom Psychology Practice in 2020 and have been offering therapy ever since — both in-person (for those who love a good cup of tea and a comfy chair) and online (for those who’d rather skip traffic and come as they are, pj's and all).
Therapy with me is down-to-earth — real, evidence-based, and grounded in what actually helps.
I bring my full self into the room: sharp, compassionate, a bit sweary, and fiercely on your side.
Once we’ve nailed the assessment and mapped out a clear treatment plan, I’m not here to nod through your week — I’m here to ask, “Ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into the attachment stuff today?”
That said, there’s always space for whatever’s on your mind — I’m not a jerk. BUT...I’m here to be real, so you get results. That means empathy — always — just not the fluffy kind that avoids what actually matters.
Values are kind of my north star—whether I’m in the therapy room or living life, they’re always steering the ship. It’s hard for me to switch them off, so if you’re working with me, you’ll probably notice them pretty quickly in how I do things. Here's what matters to me:
Authenticity
You get the real me—no pretence, no filter. I’m here as a human first, and I hope you’ll bring all of you too (even the bits that want to stay in the shadows).
Honesty
Being honest is how I show respect — for you, your time, and your investment. That means I’ll be upfront, even if it’s uncomfortable, because real change needs real conversations.
Effectiveness
You’re here because you want therapy that works. I stay grounded in approaches that are evidence-based and keep investing in my training so you get high-quality care that makes a difference.
